Educator Workshops at the Life Lab Garden Classroom

Free after-school and weekend educator workshops through the Central Coast Farm to School and School Garden Regional Resource Center:

Community and Special Events

  • Garden Crafts Workshop – TBA,  1:00-4:00pm
    Children and their familes are invited to the Garden Classroom to make beautiful homemade crafts and holiday gifts from the garden. $25 before November 11, $30 November 12 or after. Registration Required

  • Family Camp at Pie Ranch – May 22-23, 2010, noon-noon
    Many Life Lab Summer Camp parents have commented "I want to go to a camp like this!" well now is you chance. Spend the night with Life Lab and Pie Ranch staff on a Pie Ranch Farm Field. Located minutes past Ano Nuevo State Reserve Pie Ranch is a "Rural Center for Urban Renewal", they also grow the ingredients to make great pie. Family camp will take your family to the roots of your food. We'll cook from scratch, explore nature, and enjoy and evening camp fire. More information and photos from last year's Family Camp.   • The Taste of the Harvest Life Lab’s Annual Benefit and Auction in the Garden Classroom – September 11th
    Enjoy an evening in the beauty of the Garden Classroom overlooking the Monterey Bay.

  • UCSC Farm Harvest Festival – Saturday, September 25,  11:00-5:00
    You don’t want to miss the UCSC Farm's annual celebration, as they host their biggest "open house" of the year, including the third "Food for Thought" forum on local food issues. Great music, food, apple tasting, an apple pie bake-off, garden talks, hay rides, kids’ events, tours, displays by local farmers, chefs, and community groups make this a great event for adults and kids. The Life Lab Garden Classroom and associated events are brought to you by the Life Lab Science Program in collaboration with the UCSC Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS).  The Life Lab Garden Classroom and CASFS Farm are open everyday of the year for exploration.

The Garden Classroom is located at the CASFS Farm at UCSC.  Please note UCSC charges for parking Monday through Friday 7am to 5 pm.  Purchase a pass at the main entrance information kiosk or use a meter. Directions to the Garden Clasroom.
