September 2015 Photo Moment of the Month
We're really "cooking" with FoodCorps!
Daiana demonstrates hand pressing of tortillas and explores the amazing world of corn with field trip students.
This month we welcomed new FoodCorps service members Lidia Tropeano and Daiana Baez to Life Lab. Lidia and Daiana trained with our experienced garden educators and have begun working at Amesti and H.A. Hyde Elementary Schools and our Blooming Classroom in Watsonville. They will be key catalysts for our growing Pajaro Valley Initiative this school year, building and sustaining educational school gardens and conducting Harvest of the Month tasting programs in Watsonville schools with our partner, the Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF).
Lidia and Daiana have hit the ground running this month. Building on the work of our earlier service members, Ally Lemmer and Sara Mendes, they’ve already signed up more than 30 classes for garden and nutrition education programs! Lidia and Daiana are excited to create more opportunities for Pajaro Valley children to learn, appreciate fresh, healthy foods, and connect with the natural world, and we’re excited to have them join us in this rewarding and important work.
